Currently, maleinated polyolefins are widely used as adhesive additives to improve the compatibility of polymers and fillers, in mixtures of polar and nonpolar polymers, to increase adhesion to various substrates. Scientific research is aimed at expanding the range of polyolefins modified with maleic anhydride, improving the technological processes of grafting anhydride to macromolecules, and developing composite materials based on grafted copolymers of polyolefins and anhydrides. To solve the latter problem, new, previously unused fillers and other additives are used to achieve the required performance. The effect of a carbon-mineral filler (CMF) on the adhesive characteristics of a mixture of linear low-pressure polyethylene and maleinized polyethylene, as well as an ethylene copolymer with vinyl acetate (EVA) modified with maleic anhydride, was studied. It was found that the introduction of CMF into the studied polymers leads to an extreme increase in the adhesive strength to steel by 26 % (for a mixture of polyethylene) and 1.5 times (for maleated carbon fiber). The use of the organosilicon modifier 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane for maleinized savylene increases the strength of adhesive contact with steel by 51 %. The combined introduction of glycidoxysilane and CMF into maleinized EVA allows for an increase in adhesion by 8 % compared to using only 10 % by weight of glycidoxysilane. Considering that carbon-mineral filler is a waste product of coal shale mining and, accordingly, has a low cost, its use for the development of adhesive materials for corrosion protection of main steel pipelines seems promising. Its use will improve the operational characteristics of adhesive compositions, as well as solve the problems of reducing the environmental burden on the environment through the use of waste from the mining industry.
