Using electron microscopy, we evaluated the effect of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) to cells of Escherichia coli. Found that is changing the morphology and structural organization of these cells in the microbial transformation of TNT, as for a viable state of uncultivated bacteria. Analysis of the changes set can justify the assumption of the transition of plasma membrane of Escherichia coli in the transformation of TNT from liquid crystalline state to a gel.
