This paper examines the possibility of recovering metallic Ni from ammoniacal solution via cementation, using Al powder as the reductant. The kinetic behavior of the cementation with aluminum spherical micro- and nanosized particles in laboratory reactor was investigated. The influence of parameters such as concentration, pH and temperature was studied in an intermittent state. The highest recovery rates were achieved with high liquid ammonia and moderate sodium hydroxide concentrations. From 20 to 60 ° C diffusion is rate-controlling and above 60 ° C the solution equilibrium is broken and Ni(OH) 2 is mainly precipitated.
