Complex formation properties of calix[4]arene and calix[4]resorcine substituted at upper rim by β-diketon groups were investigated by UV-spectroscopy. By the use of Job’s method the stoichiometry of these complexes with Tb 3+ ion was established under varying the metal, ligand and Et 3N ratio.
