A system of stresses in the main parts of orthopedic corset for correction of scoliosis is described using the methods of theoretical mechanics. The mathematical formulas to calculate acting on the corset forces from the part of the consumer with S-shaped scoliosis torso are proposed. The major functional components material elastic modulus required to fulfill the terms of strength were calculated. The results of the experimental evaluation of the formulas are shown. Required ranges of varying stiffness of polymer-fiber composites for orthopedic corsets defined.
