Presented are the results of experimental investigation of high frequency capacitance discharge (HFCD) between a copper tube and electrolyte (tap water) surface in air. It is established that at lower pressures (2,4 kPa) there occurs an HFCD with normal current density at the electrolyte surface. It is found that at higher pressures (13,3 kPa) and large inter-electrode distances the continuous spot on the electrolyte surface splits to small ones and the discharge transforms to a multichannel HFCD. The mechanisms of burning of the high frequency capacitance multichannel discharge with an electrolyte electrode are discussed.
