Results of the analysis of possibilities of educational chemical texts for development of critical thinking of students- metallurgists in the course of training the chemical disciplines are stated. With that end in view educational chemical texts should be formed, leaning not only on didactic training principles at the higher school, but also taking into account criteria of a critical saturation and a critical correctness of the information included in them. In a context of criteria of a critical saturation of the information the examples of the chemical information which use in educational chemical texts will promote development of abilities of a critical estimation of the information in students are presented.
