The effect of two-month incubation of oil-contaminated soddy-podzolic loamy sandy soils on the hydrocarbon composition of the contaminant was examined. The conducted gas chromatographic analysis of soil extracts showed that the relative amount of organic compounds at different oil contents changes insignificantly. During the experiment the decrease of the total content of organic substances and significant decrease of low-boiling oil components content was found. Comparison of the results of IR-spectrophotometric and gas chromatographic analysis showed that the latter provides more unbiased information about the effectiveness of oil hydrocarbon mineralization.
