The paper presents the synthesis of a new benzothiazine sulfonamide derivative with the inclusion of a proteinogenic amino acid fragment (L)-tyrosine, and the preparation of lyotropic liquid crystal (LLC) systems based on it with Gd³⁺ ions for potential application in theranostics with the possibility of targeted delivery and MRI control. The synthesis of the target compound was carried out in four stages using a heteroatomic variant of the Diels-Alder reaction between N-sulfinylphenylamine and maleinamide (L)-tyrosine, followed by oxidation to a sulfonamide group. All intermediate compounds and products were studied using IR spectroscopy. LPC systems were obtained by mixing the synthesized sulfonamide, the nonionic surfactant C12EO10 and bidistilled water (or deuterated water - D2O) with the addition of gadolinium(III) nitrate at the surfactant : Gd3+ molar ratio = 1:1. The hexagonal type of packing of molecules in the mesophase was established by the method of polarization optical microscopy, the temperatures of phase transitions were determined. It has been shown that the introduction of Gd³⁺ ions stabilizes the LPC structure, which is confirmed by IR spectroscopy. The obtained hybrid composites have a structural organization that ensures the immobilization of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic components, and can be considered as promising platforms for targeted drug delivery with simultaneous MRI contrast enhancement.
