This article considered the possibility of using the heavy coking gas oil and the heavy catalytic cracking gas oil, a by-product of oil refining, as a component of raw materials for the production of oxidized bitumen in accordance with GOST 33133-2014. In the study the parameters of the oxidation process, including temperature, air flow rate and duration of oxidation in order to obtain bitumen of the required quality were studied. The obtained product quality was assessed by the following indicators: needle penetration depth, softening temperature, brittleness temperature, extensibility, dynamic viscosity, as well as indicators characterizing its thermo-oxidative stability. The influence of gas oil fractions of secondary processes on the properties of the obtained bitumen as a colloidal-dispersed system is estimated. Based on experimental data, the dependences of changes in quality indicators on the technological conditions of oxidation and the content of gas oil fractions in raw materials are obtained. It has been established that the production of bitumen by direct oxidation of tar, as well as by oxidation of mixed raw materials from tar and gas oil fractions of secondary processes, meeting the requirements of GOST 33133-2014 in terms of heat resistance for the corresponding bitumen grades is not possible. However, with an increase in the content of heavy catalytic cracking gas oil in the raw material in the range of 0-10% by weight. There is an improvement in the indicators characterizing the thermal and oxidative stability of bitumen. Involvement of up to 10% by weight of heavy coking gas oil in the oxidation process. It does not significantly affect the quality of the product obtained, however, with an increase in the concentration of THC in the oxidation feedstock, an increase in the dynamic viscosity of oxidized bitumen is observed. These factors emphasize the prospects of using gas oil fractions of secondary thermal and catalytic refining processes in the road bitumen production.
