This paper considers the positive (integrative) and negative (a disintegration) aspects of the ethnic factor in modern educational process. The proposed models of "national" and "ethnic" school analyzes the processes and prospects of development of national education in Russia as a whole and in the Republic of Tatarstan in particular.
