The paper covers the issues relating to origination of the regional petrochemical cluster represented by Nizhnekamsk Municipal District of the Republic of Tatarstan on the basis of the city-forming enterprises, such as TAIF-NK Public Stock Company, Nizhnekamskneftekhim Open Joint-Stock Company, Nizhnekamskshina Open Joint-Stock Company, and TANECO Open Joint-Stock Company. In order to substantiate viability of the project, a specific methodological approach has been designed to assess economic potential of the enterprises operating in the Nizhnekamsk area. During approbation of the approach, prospects of intensive growth due to integration processes have been identified with respect to the enterprises under study, and consequently reasonability of the regional cluster formation has become worthy of notice. At the same time, the proposed project has been validated in terms of the economic effectiveness. For this line of the study a special methodological approach to forecasting a level of synergetic effect of clusterization has been developed.
